We are proud to announce the birth of two very rare snow leopards at the Cape May County Zoo. The zoo welcomed the two cubs born to parents Himani and Vijay on May 10, 2010.

They are the FIRST snow leopard cubs ever born at the Cape May County Zoo and the first cubs for mommy ‘Himani’. At this early age, the snow leopards remain very fragile.

Only eleven snow leopards were born and survived last year in the United States.

All four are currently housed in the Snow Leopard yard that was damaged during the February 2010 snow storms. Cape May County ZooFriends  plans to build a new habitat. A campaign to raise the private funds necessary to build the new habitat starts this summer.
